WA State Volunteering Conference
Earlier in November, Business With A Heart had the privilege of attending the Volunteering WA State Conference in Perth.
The conference brought together passionate changemakers from various organisations across the not-for-profit sector. We connected and networked with many businesses, including Horizon Power, Bank West, RAC and IGA.
Held across two days, the conference was filled with fun, passion, insights, connections and community.
We heard about how we can achieve success, presence, and greater social media engagement, and how we can build communities that encourage resilience and productivity. It was clear from these insights that even one small change can have an incredible, positive impact.
Day Two saw a BWAH takeover! Our bears unintentionally dominated the conference floors and breakouts, with conference colleagues making over 100 bears to be delivered to sick children across WA. In these meaningful moments, we were able to tell the story of our charity and the impact that our bears have had on children and their families – what an incredible experience.
This could not have been possible without our valued sponsors, including Unito Property – Rosa Bellissimo and Emu Point – Lisa Edwards. Rosa and Lisa’s companies were promoted by the conference staff and recognised with pamphlets and flyers distributed at the bear-making station and throughout the two days, and we are so grateful to both of them for their support.
Another highlight of the day was the selfie challenge. Selfies with our bears became a fun exercise for the conference participants, and even the coffee cart incorporated bears into their latte art! At the end of the selfie challenge, the host state WA took out the prize.
Throughout the whole event and our interactions, vibrancy and passion were evident, as was the drive to improve the volunteer sector across the state. We saw many opportunities within the volunteer sector and business relationships in Western Australia, and we are excited at the options for our charity’s growth in the state. Our thanks to the WA Volunteering organisation team and Robbie from Happiness Co. for all their efforts.
We left the conference feeling inspired and energised. As we returned to New South Wales with all that we had learned, we felt more encouraged than ever to continue growing our mission – to bring joy, comfort and hope to children, adults and their families.
